Inwit’s solution encompasses a reusable container borrowing system, rewards system, and a food ordering platform. The containers are tracked using NFC technology, keeping track of container locations once disposed of in contactless return stations. Inwit leverages gamification to remove psychological barriers to entry, and rewards positive behavior that reduces consumers’ ecological footprint while generating a sense of community.
The company was selected as finalists in the Circular City Challenge. In the last 6 months, they onboarded 13 restaurants and gained 400 users. They have a 100% container return rate within 7 days. The company is backed by Social Ventures Zone by MTU, ICUBE from the University of Toronto and Earth Tech, a Foresight Canada program.
